Salmon Arm, B.C. — The Salmon Arm Silverbacks are excited to announce that assistant coach and director of scouting Carter Cochrane has signed a two-year extension with the team.
Cochrane, 24, has been an integral part of the Backs the past two seasons thanks to his incredible attention to detail, knowledge of the game, strong communication skills and his relatability with the players.
“Having Carter extend his stay in Salmon Arm is great news for our organization,” Silverbacks general manager Brooks Christensen said. “Carter played a big role this year for us, which included breaking down video for our players, sending video to colleges, mentoring players, helping our players work on high school and college classes and managing our defensemen. I look forward to watching Carter continue to grow as a coach in our organization.”
Cochrane said he is looking forward to the next two years.
Before joining the Silverbacks, Cochrane was the head coach of the BC Major Midget League’s Thompson Blazers during the 2018-19 season, before joining the Backs midway through the following season. As a defencemen, Cochrane suited up in 43 Western Hockey League games for the Everett Silvertips and Tri-City Americans, and also tallied 92 points in 116 career BC Hockey League games for the Chilliwack Chiefs, Cowichan Valley Capitals, Silverbacks and Trail Smoke Eaters.
